Frequently referred to as Indian Allies or 1813 Indian Contract pistols this is an example of the British Ordnance department using various Birmingham based manufacturers to produce a British Ordnance pistol that was given to the indigenous people in Canada to strengthen Britian’s defence of Canada during the War of 1812. Lock maker marked Hampton with crown and arrow viewer’s mark. Barrel 9 inches, overall 15 inches. Bore .65 inch smoothbore, clear with signs of corrosion. Top of barrel has 2 British proofs and one on barrel tang. Initials marked into wood on left side of grip as shown in photo. Strong spring and works well on full and half cock. Wooden ramrod. Very researchable and uniquely Canadian.
