German 98k bayonet fighting knife

A highly modified 98k bayonet turned into a fighting knife by removing the existing guard and replacing it with a knife size aluminum guard and adding a leather belt frog. Blade is very good condition, Joseph Corts & Son. Pommel shows German acceptance marks. Mag release button does not work or is very stiff. Scabbard is in very good condition, F. Herder A. Sn. With a very thick leather frog fastened extremely tightly to the scabbard. The wide belt loops suggest this was done in British or US Engineering field shops to fit US service belt. Definitely not German use. Interesting as is or great components.
